The Rector is the apex of the administrative and academic organisation of the Polytechnic. The retinues of other officers which are grouped under the close supervision of the Rector make the Rectory. These are the Rector’s immediate supporting administrative and secretarial staff, the Deputy Rector’s Office, the Internal Audit, the Directorate of Student Affairs, the Industrial Liasion and Placement Office, the Public Relations Unit, the Academic and Planning Unit, the Parks and Gardens Unit.
All these units have their distinct and peculiar functions and duties which are meant to assist the Rectory Department to adapt itself to new problems and changing circumstances in order to maintain continuity and consistency in decisions. They equally encourage the Rectory Department through the discharge of their duties to look ahead and foresee needs and problems which may arise from the effective implementation of decisions and programmes designed to uplift the mission and vision statement of the Polytechnic.
A summary breakdown of the functions and duties of each unit in the Rectory Department is shown below:
DEPUTY RECTORS' OFFICE
Deputy Rector(s):- The Deputy Rector(s) assists the Rector in the performance of his/her functions; acts in place of the Rector, when the post of Rector is vacant or if the Rector is for any reason absent, incapacitated or unable to perform his/her functions as Rector; and perform other functions as the Rector or the Council may assign to him or her. The Deputy Rector(s) shall hold office for a single tenure of 4 years, beginning from the date of his/her appointment and on such terms and conditions as may be specified by his/her appointment letter.
The Office of the Deputy Rector is also charged with the responsibility of overseeing the security of the Polytechnic as well as the Horticulture unit. The Horticulture unit is responsible for the landscaping and aesthetics of the Polytechnic Campus, and the engagement of casual labours to maintain the fields.
PERSONAL ASSISTANT
The Personal Assistant assists the Rector in managing information, appointment, and general administration of the Rectory. It is headed by the Deputy Registrar (Rectory).
THE INTERNAL AUDIT
It supervises the internal control and watchdog mechanisms on all Polytechnic incomes and payments to various stakeholders. This Unit is headed by the Chief Internal Auditor (CIA) of the Polytechnic.
DIRECTORATE OF STUDENTS' AFFAIRS
It oversees the general welfare and the well-being of the students, on and off campus. This directorate is headed by the Dean and supported by the Sub-Deans of Students‟ Affairs.
THE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICE (PRO)
This is the image of the Institution; it covers internal and external oratory and publications in the prints and media. This Unit is headed by the Deputy Registrar (Public Relations).
ACADEMIC AND PHYSICAL PLANNING UNIT
The Unit formulates guidelines, regulations, and general development control of all physical development and use of housing, commercial and recreational sports on the Campus apart from supervising phased execution of the physical development projects to ensure congruency with the spirit and intent of the Campus Master and Strategic Plan.
DIRECTORATE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS
The Directorate of Student Affairs headed by a Dean takes care of the welfare of students of the Polytechnic and oversees issues relating to accommodation of students, administration of documentation for the Bursary payment, oversight of student clubs and association affairs, facilitation of academic ceremonies such as matriculation and graduation.
It also acts as a clearing house for students complaints and concerns, provides guidance and assistance to students in distress. The Directorate also manages community/students relationship through a number of approaches, initiatives, and organs.
THE INDUSTRIAL LIAISON AND PLACEMENT OFFICE (ILPO)
The Unit collaborates with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and the Directorate of National Youth Corps to coordinate the placement and assessment of the Students' Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), and Industrial Training (IT) and mobilise prospective HND graduates for the National Youth Service Corps Scheme (NYSC).
